Readme file for Data_ Co-amendment of glycerol with anaerobic digestate increases soil microbial biomass in field conditions General information > Title of dataset: Data – Co-amendment of glycerol with anaerobic digestate increases soil microbial biomass in field conditions > Dataset was generated during a field experiment carried out on a commercial farm near Feltwell, UK from January 2023 to November 2023 > Keywords: biogas residue, organic carbon, straw, sugar beet > Name/institution/contact information: o Christina van Midden, PhD Student, SWEE: Email: christina.van-midden@cranfield.ac.uk o Mark Pawlett, Principal Investigator, SWEE: Email: m.pawlett@cranfield.ac.uk > Funding source: BBSRC, grant number BB/T008776/1 and Future Biogas Ltd. This PhD project was part of the FoodBiosystems DTP. Methodological information: > Description of methods for data collection or generation and data processing: The collection and processing of soil samples to measure soil parameters (microbial biomass using fumigation-extraction method, available nitrogen, bulk density and pH) and plant parameters (nitrogen, sugar, amino nitrogen, sodium, potassium contents and dry matter). Detailed procedures and references will be available in the publication this dataset is intended to support > Experimental conditions: This was a field experiment set in east England, experiencing a temperate maritime climate. > QA procedures: the analytical methods conducted followed standard operating procedures. Prior to start of experiment, a risk assessment was carried out and a COSHH assessments completed for the use of hazardous chemicals. A data management plan was created before data collection. During the experiment, all procedures were recorded in detail in a laboratory notebook. Variable list, including full names and definitions (spell out abbreviated words) of column headings for tabular data: not applicable, as all column headings are spelled out in full 2. Units of measurement: differ between columns, see abbreviation list above for full name of units used. 3. Definitions for codes or symbols used to record missing data: missing data are represented by a full stop in the cell. These “missing” data represent specific analysis which were not done at set sampling timepoints, for example any data pertaining to sugar beet harvest is “missing” from earlier sampling times, when the sugar beet was growing and not harvest ready. 4.
